Welcome! I'm Sasha a 38 year old, wife, mom, newbie homeschooler, blogger and wanna be organizer. I am a born and raised mid-west girl from Illinois. My hubby, Joe, and I have been married for 16 years and have three amazing little boys; Elijah (12), Noah (8), and Zach (5). I love the Lord and try to honor Him in all that I do.
We chose homeschooling for our family simply because that is what God called us to do. Simple enough right?! I sometimes say that God brought me kicking and screaming into the world of homeschooling. You can read more about how that happened on my Our Story page. The thought of having all of my children in school brought me great joy, the freedom, the possibilities! Then it hit me, I only have 18 years with them!! I never thought I would be homeschooling my children and now I can't imagine NOT homeschooling them. Don't misunderstand me, I definitely have "those" days or weeks, but I also have an amazing supportive husband who encourages and reminds me why we are doing this.
Freedom Knights Academy (which is what we call our little homeschool) is a personal account of our families homeschooling journey. I write about the happenings in our home and school, my latest craft project, home improvement, organizing project or recipes that I find.
Being a new homeschooling family (we began in August of 2012) I am writing about our personal journey. I hope to help and encourage other newbie homeschoolers with our successes and failures.
On occasion I will share my latest craft project, whether good or bad. I also like to give a glimpse in to what my family has been working on around our house, in home improvements or organizing projects. Living in a home of pretty picky eaters, I am constantly on the search for new recipes that my kids will actually eat.
In my "former life" I was an early childhood teacher, working with ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. I loved working with children! Now I am so excited to be using my degree to invest in the lives of my own children.
